Sincerity

What does it mean to be sincere?  I believe that most of us don’t know and are rarely sincere.  I remember some time ago when I was speaking on the subject, a friend of mine stated that he wanted to lose weight but would not get out and jog or do whatever it took daily to have it happen.  He laughingly said “I think about exercising every day but will not do it.  I guess I am not sincere yet.”

How many of us, right now at this moment, want to have something happen in our lives, and may even claim that we really want it bad, but don’t realize that we don’t want it enough to have it show up?  Then we wonder “What is the problem, why won’t it show up?”  I believe it was Parahansa Yogananda who said that “as soon as the student is ready to go to the end of the earth to meet his guru, the guru magically appears.”  This is true of most if not all things.

Think about it.  What do you want?  Are you really sincere?
